From My Past Life: Mostly Flute Music and Math Writing by Franz Rothe is a refreshing and soulful celebration of a life deeply intertwined with the elegance of mathematics and the beauty of music. With a unique voice full of wit, wisdom, and warmth, Rothe invites readers to travel through a lifetime of academic pursuit, artistic exploration, and personal introspection. The book is a delightful mix of memories, literary musings, dreams, and playful dialogues-interwoven with two of Rothe's great lifelong passions: mathematics and flute music.
At Bookwrights House, we are proud to present From My Past Life as a vivid portrait of a scholar who has not only excelled in the academic world, earning his doctorate in Tübingen and serving as a professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte-but who has also built a musical legacy, recording classical CDs with pianist Thomas Turner. Now in retirement, Rothe continues to write for both joy and reflection, and this new title showcases his deep intellect, humor, and enduring humanity.
Whether you're a lover of music, a curious mind drawn to philosophy and math, or someone who appreciates the candid beauty of storytelling, this book speaks directly to the heart. Available now through major online retailers, From My Past Life is more than a memoir-it's a testament to lifelong curiosity, resilience, and creativity. Don't miss this inspiring read!
