After finding multiple dead bodies and then almost being framed for murder, I decided to just keep my head down and try to stay out of trouble for the remaining sectors of our long journey. That was easier said than done, though.
It was bad enough when the fire alert systems started malfunctioning, waking everyone on the Lady Elizabeth in the middle of the night. Things went from bad to worse as alarms continued to go off seemingly at random. As passengers started to ignore the frequent alarms, I started to worry that a real fire might get dismissed as just another alarm.
That isn't exactly what happened, though. The fire was real enough, but the ship's automatic systems responded and quickly eliminated the danger. When the smoke cleared, though, a man was dead and I was caught up in yet another murder investigation through no fault of my own.
