This book is a compilation of excerpts culled from the vast and inspiring teachings of Ādi Śankarācharya, who is regarded as the foremost exponent of monistic (advaita) Indian philosophy (Vedānta). To go through the content from his voluminous writings such as commentaries (bhāṣya-s) on Prasthānatrayī (triumvirate of spiritual journey; the Upaniṣad-s, Brahma Sūtra-s, and Srīmad Bhagavad Gītā) and various books and prayers (stotra-s) is a daunting task for any spiritual seeker, much less understand and practice them. The author felt that an introduction to the Vedānta philosophy as enunciated and explained by Ādi Śankarācharya in his own words on various topics would be very useful for the beginners. This work is an attempt with that purpose. This short book may be regarded as a companion book to another book, 'Glimpses of Vedānta philosophy, ' published by this author, in which the triumvirate of Indian philosophy is is explained in detail.
