Vivian Moore has just arrived in Elador and already she misses home. But duty and honor push her forward and so she leaves behind not just a town, a house and friends but her beloved Damon, whom she had until recently planned on marrying. But there is no place for him in Elador. Vivian closes the door to her past---or so she thinks, to focus on her future. In Elador, she begins her training as Valkyrie, attempts to earn the acceptance of the people who call this strange place home and must call her Valkyrie and tries to formulate a plan to remove the current ruler---Shanga, who is determined to twist Elador into her own dark empire, destroying everything in her path. But there are secrets here that she is unprepared for. Damon refuses to stay away and puts himself into great danger in his attempt to win Vivian back and someone whom Vivian thought she'd never see again reappears. Meanwhile back in the small town of Cypress, Natalie adopts four orphaned children, not knowing that one of them is quite unique. Daniel surprises Natalie by rising to the occasion in a big way. But there is corruption in Cypress, a rebellion is stirring and something is ravaging the town. Jim tries his best to discover what's attacking his people and to put a stop to it but someone's bound to get hurt.
