Harry, a lone teenager, decides to walk north away from the scorched land but has to avoid cannibals along his path after his mother and father are killed. Collected stragglers will need to volunteer because this is the first attempt to reach for the stars using newly developed rocket fuel and engines, and the danger is real.
Harry is involved in protecting a young girl who is being harmed. The Air Force officers in charge see the need for planetary safety controls and begin creating a police force for the new planets, a so-called Planet Militia.
