Sentient dragons, monks of a forgotten Holy Order, love triangles and connections to ancient myths; Continuum is more than simply an intriguing fantasy. Crafted by a master story teller, it is an adventure that leads the intrepid among us to the distant realms of our imagination. Set in the era of sailing ships and horse drawn wagons, the various characters - men and women, young and old - attempt to piece together the history and forgotten truths of their world; a realm many readers might believe may actually exist. Following in the footsteps of other gifted story tellers, the journeys of the diverse characters awakens their primal fears and hidden beliefs when they come into contact with the reclusive reptiles that appeared upon their realm in antiquity. Like the great dragons of oriental mythology, did the great winged reptiles of their legends know the origin of their realm? And what of their inherited memory; a knowing passed down across the centuries concerning other lives and a prophecy and the return of their Guardian? Did the reptiles evolve and take to the air when the great sea receded and, like the humans, slowly evolve that they might ascend to the realms beyond? And what of their protagonist; a being born to the ruler of the great city of Sanakht with no knowledge of his past, yet consumed by a burning desire to hunt down and destroy the reptiles. Continuum offers many possible answers to such intriguing questions. Whether we live but one life and pass into oblivion, or ascend to other realms, other realities on some endless journey of becoming, I know not. There are no ready answers to such questions, yet the characters of our story weave a fascinating tapestry and open we readers to a new world of endless possibilities. Not all of the answers are in place by the end of the first volume of Continuum, however it is a page turner I am not likely to forget. Two days that I should have spent doing other things that suddenly seemed less pressing when contacted to review this story. Review by Rambler.
