Geophysical engineer Ethan Styrnak discovers what InterStellar is doing when a covert survey takes him to Mycenae. There he meets Shawna Tang, a brilliant young woman who dreams of seeing the stars and learning why her world has been cut off from the rest of humanity.
Their connection is immediate, but Ethan must leave Mycenae before either of them is ready. When he learns the corporation intends to take the mineral without the knowledge or consent of Shawna's people-people descended from the original Exeter colonists-he cannot turn away.
With Jana, her brother Jame, Sonja, and starship pilot Joss, Ethan joins a dangerous effort to expose the conspiracy and free Mycenae from the blockade. As their plan unfolds, Ethan and Shawna face parallel choices between their love for each other and their loyalty to Mycenae. Ethan must leave Shawna behind to continue the struggle for her planet's freedom, while Shawna must surrender her chance to follow him into the stars and remain home to help liberate her people. Their decisions may save Mycenae-but could separate them forever.
