The series evokes time travel to lost worlds, discovery of exotic new elements, starships that span interstellar distances in a matter of days without FTL, telepathic teleportation, the fifth dimension, and innovative science. There is greed and corruption, crusades to give equality to marginalized peoples, and the search for meaning behind the stars. The novels are each standalone but are best read in sequence:
