Conflicting Conviction is a work of fiction in which the author Eric Jennette, has sought to blend elements of spiritual drama and fantasy to create a fast-paced and engaging novel. The introduction of this work foreshadows the conflicts that arise as the reader is introduced to Enrique, the protagonist and unknowing champion of the world. The reader sees Enrique's normal coming-of-age and begins to understand his efforts to simply live a normal life as the plot moves forward. The Butcher, however, has other plans for Enrique, and for the rest of the world, regardless of how their eventual battle plays out. The story introduces a diverse and varied cast of characters as the central conflict escalates, and Enrique finds himself challenged by, surprised by, and struggling against, his own destiny in this volume. Enrique must also deal with not knowing who he can trust to either try to kill him or be at his side. Conflicting Conviction is the first volume in the Shades Of A Betrayed Soul series.
