J. Krishnamurti (1895-1986) has been called an educator, a philosopher, a spiritual teacher, but in reality he cannot be limited to any of these descriptions. Speaking to millions of people in his lifetime,
Krishnamurti adamantly rejected any role as authority, leader, or guru, precisely because he saw that this was a major impediment in people finding truth for themselves. There is no path to truth. Truthmust be discovered, but there is no formula for its discovery. What is formulated is not true. You must set out on the unchartered sea, and the unchartered sea is yourself. Commentaries on Living, a three-volume series, records Krishnamurti's meetings with earnest individuals from all walks of life who came to him seeking answers to their questions. The breadth of Krishnamurti's teachings is revealed over the course of these compassionate and penetrating conversations. Several chapters are prefaced by Krishnamurti's inspired descriptions of his ever-changing surroundings, imparting a deep awareness of the moment and setting the tone for the discussion to follow.
