By reconstructing the original structure of the upper and lower texts, the initial sequence of chapters, and the authentic wording of each passage, it illuminates the cultural origins, logical framework, and philosophical layers of the urtext, thereby precisely capturing the core tenets and essential philosophy of Laozi's teachings. Based on this foundation, the book provides an in-depth interpretation of every chapter, verse, and character of the original Laozi.
Through rigorous historical research and logical analysis, author Zhang Yanshan guides readers to critically reexamine the familiar image of Laozi and the text of Laozi.
