We live in an era of serious public health problems despite advances over the centuries. Hypertension is one of the best examples, as it is a disease with high prevalence, incidence, and cardiovascular outcomes. Although it is a low-cost disease to diagnose and treat, adherence and control are far below the desired levels. Known as the silent killer because it is asymptomatic in most cases, suggesting low severity to the unsuspecting, and due to high rates of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, we face the challenge of increasing control rates (10%), even with a veritable arsenal of drugs at our disposal. The proposed challenge must include the integration of all related specialties, so that together they can evolve in knowledge and define better strategies in the association of treatment and prevention. For all these reasons, this literary production is justified by the mission of disseminating knowledge, raising the level of scientific discussion, and encouraging the promotion of continuing medical-patient education, together with joint governmental and private efforts to improve the prevention, detection, treatment, and control of hypertension in the country.
