Calamar. A land of the free. Knights used to rule over the people. Their unparalleled skills in wielding the sword and controlling the Kaare -- a mysterious omnipresent magical force -- had enabled Knights to lord for eons. The people were disgruntled. Villages rioted. Soon, the social order was overturned. The people of Calamar banded together to form a republic -- one that would treat each citizen equally. The knights, once mighty warriors with no peer, are brought to heel. They are rebranded into Knights: Loyal servants of the Republic, upholding peace and justice at all costs. Since then, centuries have passed. The once renowned strength of the Knights has faded from public memory. Cracks have appeared in the Republic. People are disillusioned by the Republic's failure to deliver on its promise of peace and equality. Amidst it all, a danger lurks in the darkness... Calamar: The Fallen Republic is the short prologue to a bigger story. It chronicles events that transpired years before the Republic's downfall, and serves as an introduction to Calamar as a whole.
