The world built around Yoruba myth is breathtakingly complex; the Ninki Nanka isn't just a dragon, it's a force of nature tied to the land, and the magic feels visceral. Abeni's journey from a servant cleaning up the nobles' messes to the defiant Storm-marked is one of the best underdog stories I've read in years.
