Harper Ellis prides herself on facts, data, and the kind of science that can be measured with a ruler and proven in a lab. So when renowned researcher Dr. Silas Crane offers her a paid field position based on her thesis in predator tracking, she jumps at the chance to launch her career.
But from the moment she arrives at the remote forest camp known as Project Redwood, Harper senses something is off.
The team is divided between serious scientists and true believers. The equipment is far too advanced for a simple wildlife study. And Crane himself avoids one very important question: what exactly are they tracking?
When Harper begins to uncover staged footprints, planted evidence, and an elaborate system of hoaxes designed to lure a legendary creature into the open, she realizes the project isn't searching for the truth, it's manufacturing a myth.
Until the night something enormous moves through camp. Something no one faked. Something no one can explain. Caught between deception, danger, and the possibility that the impossible might be real, Harper must decide whether to expose Project Redwood... or walk away before she becomes part of the lie. Because in the deep woods, some footprints aren't meant to be followed.
And some truths refuse to stay hidden.
