The author's opinion that the statement sexual behavior is social behavior is one-hundred percent accurate but there is more to the story than just that. Think of social behavior as a wide spectrum of things, much like the autism spectrum. The further right you move on that autism spectrum the higher functioning some people say you are. The author says that functioning labels are damaging to the autism community, but we use them for the purpose of explaining our behavior.

There is no operational definition that would tell us at which step a social behavior becomes a sexual behavior. The number of step that this occurs at will vary from relationship to relationship or person to person. I struggle with this concept because I fail to understand how I can be two people at once. I have this mind blindness problem of perceiving my behavior as who I am. This comes from a result of lots of bullying over the years that created a lot of post-traumatic stress disorder.

I often jump to sexual behavior at step two because I am trying to get a girlfriend. There is nothing preprogrammed to be inside of my brain. This means that I struggle with coming on too strong in social interactions. The set of social skills needed to interact with an acquaintance are social behavior skills and non-sexual. The social skills are sexual in nature and therefore sexual behaviors.
