We did not start as omnivores but as vegetarians early on our evolution. Climate change forced our ancestors to learn how to hunt for the survival of our species. Once the climate returned to normal and we didn't have to hunt anymore because of the discovery of agriculture, we reduced our meat consumption but did not stop eating animals. It has now turned into an industry where animals are treated inhumanly. The belief that meat consumption is necessary for good health is false, we are actually healthier by having a vegetarian lifestyle.
