The persistence of abortion despite advances in the legal framework and in the field of sexual and reproductive health, led us to initiate this research with the aim of analyzing the factors affecting the acceptability of adult abortion and that of adolescent girls by healthcare staff and the general public in Togo. Inspired by Anderson's Functional Cognition Theory (1981, 1996) methodological model, from May to October 2019, 400 participants in a first study on adult abortion judged the degree of acceptability of each of the 57 scenarios proposed, resulting from the combination of three factors: adult age, gestational age, reasons for abortion, and two groups of particular scenarios composed of one of 5 and the other of 7 scenarios. Similarly, 400 other participants in a second study, this time on teenage abortion, made their judgements based on 64 scenarios, obtained by combining five factors: age of teenager, teenager's plan, gestational age, parents' agreement and partner's agreement.
