Index fund investing is simple, straightforward, and accessible but isn't fast. We don't aim for quick money when investing in index funds.
We aim to build our wealth slowly with index funds, usually over 30 to 40 years. Therefore, the goal isn't to check the stock market every day to see the results.
We want to build wealth using the four principles of index fund investing: automatic investing, dollar-cost averaging, ignoring markets, and never selling shares.
The last principle goes against conventional wisdom, but it's worth understanding my view. I aim to have more shares at the end of each year than the prior year.
