Two brave people sacrificed much to bring the story of the Essiac herbal tea to the world. This natural, holistic alternative medicine remedy for cancer and other illnesses has benefited hundreds of thousands of people worldwide.
Essiac herbal tea was discovered among the Chippewa (Ojibway) tribe in 1922. Herbal Shamans had historically used a blend of 4 herbs to treat disease among members of the tribe. A Canadian doctor assigned his nurse, Rene Caisse, to assist a Chippewa lady who was dying of cancer. The lady took Essiac tea and recovered completely.
