In this sixth installment of the Zombie Crusade series, the infected continue to develop the strength and abilities of apex predators, while the not-just-physically transformed Luke Seifert leads his new bride and best friends westward as he seeks to rediscover himself, and his mission, in a world overrun by hunters. Luke and his young companions encounter an apocalyptic landscape filled with ragtag settlements of survivors, an impressive cache of abandoned military equipment, and a surprisingly well-organized group of new allies in Texas. President Barnes has also set his sights on the West, where he can raise his largest and most advanced army of flesh-eaters yet, while still playing sadistic mind-games with his enemies. Whereas Barnes is convinced that his growing horde is comprised of mindless, hyper-aggressive super-soldiers who will literally fall apart over time, Luke is discovering that some of them may have quite a different fate. As the Resistance comes together to make a crucial stand in the canyons and valleys of southern Utah, the virus continues to transform the world in unexpected ways.
