A hundred years earlier, Fairy Prince Zeturnisc Li manifested the rarest ability of all fairykind. He is a Time Seer. Unlike his brother, Crown Prince Tian, who sees the far future and predicted Nia's arrival, Zet can glimpse the next five seconds. Under the guidance of the Unicorn Spiraltail and renowned swordsman Lord Rome Min, the brothers learn to fight as one-but even foresight cannot shield them from every danger.
Nia must also seek guidance from Spiraltail. She learns that the Fairy Seers-Zet and Tian-have been missing for over two months, captured while searching for the Opal. It is Nia's mission to rescue them and restore power to the Opal before the island is destroyed. Even when her best friends, Leah and Ella, are taken by the enemy, Nia holds on to hope that the prophecy will guide her.
Previously, Tian foresaw a plague that would devastate the fairies. In his attempt to protect Zet, Tian failed to see the true cost: Rome's death. Grief made Zet's powers spin out of control, and rumors began to spread that he was insane. Desperate to escape, Zet turned to experimenting with dangerous magic: learning to pull others into his dreams and creating new spells. The brothers are compelled to search for the Opal and are captured, imprisoned, and tortured by a phantom wizard.
Nia begins having dreams about how to rescue Zeturnisc Li. Despite not wanting to be controlled by fate, Nia must put aside her feelings and follow Zet's instructions to complete the prophecy and rescue the trapped fairies-because if she fails, the Opal's powers will collapse and Aqua Plata will cease to exist.
Nia, Zet, Tian, and King Tarlin of the Fairies unite to recover the Opal. But when Nia's friend Leah betrays them and destroys it, the island is thrown into chaos. In a desperate act, Zet binds the magic within an iron chamber, sealing it with his newfound power so that the island might survive.
