This adventure trip, a three-credit elective course in college many years ago, encouraged me in my growth and development as a young Christian; a new, passionate believer in Jesus Christ. It provided me with a foundation with scripture as a source of authority and a pattern to start out my young life. The wilderness provided the setting for my further quest. My spirit and soul were nourished through outdoor experiences and meditation on God's world and His words!In the last forty years as I have reflected upon this trip, this experience, I have often made reference to the lessons I learned there. At the prompting of a friend, I revisit them here. The greatest take-aways from the weeks spent in the wilderness were the development of a lifetime of enduring friendships, lasting relationships, how the role of leadership informed my beliefs concerning mentoring, and how I was astonished by love!
