As an African American male in leadership in the 20th Century, Dr. Porterfield is often confronted with counseling sessions that bring the issues of Black men before his desk. After addressing his issues and the issues of these multiple men, he determined that there was a need to assist men, both black and white, on a larger scale than one-on-one counseling. Hence, the book When A Black Man Cries.
The issues of societal woes of men, with a strong emphasis on African American males, are discussed in depth within the pages of this book. You will find answers to many of the difficult questions facing all men worldwide. Dr. Porterfield addresses the root cause of the conditions facing men today. Even though he is not a medical doctor and will not give a medical diagnosis of these root causes, he is a student of life with a perceptive eye and a reasonable level of intelligence. Through God's guidance, he has seen specific things that enable him to spearhead the movement of hope for men. This book will help men understand themselves and the men in their lives.
