What Ever Happened to Stephen Shaw? (A Professor James Edward Pryce Mystery, Book 2)
Penfield Cole
Knocked unconscious, hospitalized and then bullets missing my head.
None of this was in my original job description!
Yes, me Jackson Jefferson Davis!
Innocent assistant to the eccentric billionaire professor,
or should I say, crime magnet?
So how did Professor Pryce get me into this?
Step one:
Irma Shaw, an old flame shows up at the door. Check.
With a tear-stained face and quavering voice, she
begs Professor Pryce to help her find her missing husband. Check.
He left for one of his digs seeking new artifacts from a Civil War battle in the area.
Her husband Stephen disappeared. Check.
No phone calls, emails or texts. Check.
Gone without a trace. Check.
No proof of life. Check.
All I knew for sure: a woman's tears meant certain engagement. Checkmate.
Professor Pryce was about to entangle me once more in what he calls puzzle solving.
I call it dangerous duty, foolishness, or pure craziness.
But this time my past was the bait that pulled me in: a Civil War era treasure hunt!
My mother would be so proud!
And Stephen Shaw? No trace. No clues. Only a torn half map to a dig site.
