The Would-be Killer is a narrative, without direct speech, written in the third person omniscient, and based on the writer's knowledge of factual events, and certain individuals.
This story is however, weaved into a work of fiction, telling the tale of Daniel, and his tragic early life, flowing into his teenage years.

With such a terrible start in life, it seems Daniel is destined to follow the all too familiar path, and go from being an angry young boy, through into his teenage years, on to leading a life full of constant trouble and misery, and as would be expected, a life involving crime, on-going confrontations with the police, and most likely prison.

A few years after failed foster family placements and waiting periods in an orphanage, Daniel escapes that rut and accidentally finds unconditional friendship with a group of petty thieves, while searching for a safe place to sleep in the back alley of a city, and begins his journey towards a criminal lifestyle.
