It took place during their summer vacation in Nova Scotia, Cape Breton National Park. Her husband knew how much she loved whales and always dreamed of seeing a whale up close and personal. This experience was truly exhilarating and was the inspiration for this book.
The book has unique features that would be very beneficial for teachers and parents to use to enrich their children. It has a glossary, an interesting fact page about whales as well as a page to extend learning through activities children can do after reading the book. The book would be a great mentor text for teachers and an excellent book for teaching personal narratives. It can be a mentor text for teaching research on endangered species and climate change. It inspires children to become marine and wildlife conservationists. The book is recommended for children ages 4-12. It would also be a good book for middle students to encourage them to be engaged in marine conservation and conduct research. Will Abby See Whales Today?
