What readers are saying:

When are boundaries barriers, when portals? The questions raised and lived in this story aren't only for the young people to answer.

This book held my attention from beginning to end, and I want everyone I care about to read it.

Suspense and danger build to a climax while Katy struggles to hang onto the sister she loves despite powerful forces to tear her away and into the spirit world forever.

What makes it a true delight to read is Eason's writing style and how she makes places and people come alive.

Fourteen-year-old Katy doesn't feel brave, and the Wei-ni-la wants her dead.

In a remote Northwest forest, the evil ones put on pretty faces and speak with honey tongues to Katy's sister, Celeste. Katy feels powerless to save either of them.

Mama and Papa, settlers in the land of the indigenous Nanchuti, refuse to believe that the malevolent Wei-ni-la and the ancient Old Ones inhabit the river and the trees. Superstitions, they say!

But Katy knows better. Celeste is changing in horrific ways. The Nanchuti grandmother of their hearts says that Celeste has a unique destiny, but why does she abandon the girls when the Wei-ni-la's hold on Celeste grows, and when they are trying to kill Katy?

Katy and Celeste only have one choice: to embark on a perilous journey to find their grandmother. Will the girls survive, or will both be lost forever?

WHISPERS OF THE OLD ONES is a tale of legends, danger, and love, an unforgettable story of transformation.
