Where the Heck Are We? includes re-edited versions of most of the humorous personal essays posted on The View from Amy's World blog (2008-2022). Amy wrote these pieces in between bingeing on dark chocolate, pondering the logic of cats, ranting against beets, battling mysterious beasties intent on devouring her garden in the dead of night, and finding new ways to cook up zucchini (pancakes anyone?). Over the course of her 15 years blogging, Amy shared many amusing (and often insightful) thoughts with a small group of dedicated followers. During her Year of Living Humorously in 2016, she challenged herself to write a humorous piece every Sunday. She confesses that writing humor nearly killed her but what doesn't kill you makes you stranger. Amy says, Humor is the hardest stuff to write. If you think those writers who tear their heart out and smear it across the page have done hard work, then I have news for you: humor writing is the real heavy lifting. Anyone can get up the courage to say what's in their heart, but it takes a ridiculous level of imagination and a disturbing amount of cheese to inspire laughter. Believing strongly in the healing and restorative power of humor, Amy gives her readers a good laugh during a time when we need a good laugh very much.
