One hundred Christmas recipes, arranged in order of how much explaining you will have to do at the table.
It opens nearly normal. Bacon Gingerbread Cookies. An Eggnog French Toast Bake with caraway streusel. A Cranberry Glazed Meatloaf Wreath that looks like a centerpiece and eats like dinner. Eight chapters later you have arrived at Gravy-Flavored Fudge, Candy Cane Pickles, and a Boxing Day casserole built from whatever is left in the fridge. The escalation is deliberate. You stop at whatever point your family stops enjoying it.
Of the 100 recipes, 55 carry a real twist. The other 45 are honest, straightforward versions of the dishes you already make in December. Nobody has to gamble Christmas dinner on a joke.

Jars, tins and trays, for the stretch of December when you need eleven small presents and no more trips to a store.
Every recipe carries a yield, a time, and a weirdness level from 1 to 3, so you know before you start whether you are making a crowd-pleaser or a conversation piece. The Basics chapter covers the techniques the rest of the book leans on. 146 pages, a line illustration for every recipe, and an A-to-Z index for the morning you cannot remember what you promised to bring.
