This Special Issue focuses on the occurrence, distribution, migration, and transformation of emerging pollutants in aquatic environments, examining the factors influencing their behavior in water, sediments, and aquatic organisms. It includes studies on monitoring and analyzing heavy metals, nutrients, and organic pollutants; identifying pollution sources; and assessing temporal and spatial distribution, speciation, and environmental risks. Environmental pollution is closely linked to anthropogenic activities, industrial processes, and metal use, while organic pollutants in water can promote bacterial growth, further affecting water quality. The Issue also evaluates pollution indices, exposure levels, bioaccumulation, toxic effects, and the human health risks associated with heavy metal and organic pollutant contamination. Since heavy metals often coexist with nutrients and organic contaminants, particular emphasis is placed on advanced and sustainable treatment technologies, including physicochemical methods, membrane separation, advanced oxidation processes, and biological approaches to water purification.
