Watch On The Rhine is a play written by Lillian Hellman. Set in Washington D.C. in 1940, the play tells the story of the wealthy Fanny Farrelly, who welcomes her daughter Sara and her family to her home. Sara's husband, Kurt Muller, is a German anti-fascist who has been fighting against the Nazi regime in Europe. The play explores themes of political ideology, family loyalty, and sacrifice as Kurt's past catches up with him and he must confront the dangers of his political beliefs. The play premiered on Broadway in 1941 and won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Play. It has since been adapted into a film and has been performed in theaters around the world. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
