Washing Ourselves Sick is a short non-fiction read about the harm we are doing to ourselves and our families with all the constant sanitizing and deep cleaning. Follow Jenny, a fictional character, as she learns first-hand about the alcohol and toxin exposure to our children and ourselves from all the hand sanitizer and chemical cleaner usage. Learn about the real effectiveness of hand sanitizers, why we may be seeing so many allergies and autoimmune diseases today compared to 40 years ago, and how we are exposing ourselves to toxins left behind from all these daily cleaners. Detailed explanations are given into things like how hand sanitizer contain more alcohol than vodka, and how our immune systems need to make germ memories.
We Have Never Been So Clean . . .
Germs are everywhere and so are hand sanitizers, disinfectants, and cleaning wipes. We are faced with cleaning every surface of everything, including ourselves. Our environment and behavior encourage a germ-free lifestyle.
Yet So Unprepared . . .
But these germ-free habits are making holes in our umbrella of natural immunity. Now we are even more susceptible to illness, not to mention exposing ourselves to toxic chemicals.
We Are Washing Ourselves Sick . . .
Meet Jenny. Jenny knows germs are everywhere; however, she soon learns that things like hand sanitizer can contain more alcohol than whiskey. She is also surprised to learn that her overly clean lifestyle may be increasing her children's odds of developing autoimmune diseases.
As crisis after crisis hits her family as a result of everyday cleaning and sanitizing, Jenny starts to wonder if her attempts at being germ-free are actually washing her family sick?

This is not a book about COVID, COVID-19, or the coronavirus pandemic. The ideas and concepts of Washing Ourselves Sick have been developing in my mind and have been a part of many conversations for over ten years. The COVID pandemic just gave me the time to organize my thoughts, add substantial research, and write this book. I hope you enjoy the book. My goal is to raise awareness of the dangers of an overclean mentality and the potential harm we are doing to ourselves and our families. I will let you decide for yourself if you think we are cleaning ourselves to a healthier life or Washing Ourselves Sick.
