Three billion years ago, something was found.
Then it was forgotten.
Or almost forgotten.
Kaan and Selin have spent years traveling together through the dark, crossing worlds and civilizations, collecting the small and enormous things that deserve to be remembered. But when Selin discovers an ancient record left by a surveyor named Oveys, their next journey becomes different from every journey before it.
Four hundred million years ago, Oveys encountered something she could not explain.
She left it behind.
Now Kaan and Selin are going back.
Waiting for them in the halo of a distant dwarf galaxy is a phenomenon that cannot be measured by their instruments, cannot be described by Selin's vast scientific knowledge, and seems to change depending on the person who approaches it.
The closer they get, the stranger it becomes.
And eventually, Kaan begins to wonder whether they are discovering something that exists in the universe at all, or something that only exists when someone is willing to truly look.
Warm Tea After Three Billion Years is a quiet, philosophical science fiction novel about first contact, memory, loneliness, love, and the things that survive when almost everything else is forgotten.
For readers who love the gentle philosophical science fiction of Becky Chambers, the profound questions of Mary Doria Russell's The Sparrow, and stories that care as much about human connection as they do about the mysteries of the universe, this is a journey into the unknown where the biggest discoveries may have nothing to do with answers.
Sometimes the universe does not give you an answer.
Sometimes it gives you someone willing to stay while you search.
