His most famous works include: The Autobiography of a Cad, arguably amongst the funniest books ever written; Lords and Masters, a blunt and prescient satire, and Napoleon and His Marshals (1934), which is considered to be amongst the best accounts of the Napoleonic Wars ever written. This entertaining and insightful travelogue is highly recommended for fans of Macdonell's work and lovers of great travel writing.
