Video is the most resourceful media to capture world around us and being the prime concern of television media it has develop procedure and techniques to edit, store, index and retrieve video material. Segmenting a video into manageable units is considered to be a first step in video analysis task. These units are called shots and are considered as the elementary building block in video construction. Video shot boundary detection is one of the essential steps towards content based analysis of video data, which helps to segment a video by detecting boundaries between camera shots.
