A Valiant Bishop Against A Ruthless King: The Life Of St. John Fisher by Paul McCann is a biography of the life and legacy of St. John Fisher, an English bishop who lived during the 16th century. The book explores Fisher's early life, education, and rise to prominence within the Catholic Church. It also delves into his relationship with King Henry VIII, who was determined to break away from the Catholic Church and establish the Church of England. Despite pressure from the king, Fisher remained steadfast in his faith and refused to acknowledge the king as the head of the Church. This ultimately led to Fisher's imprisonment and execution. The book also examines Fisher's impact on the Catholic Church and his canonization as a saint. Through extensive research and analysis, McCann provides readers with a comprehensive understanding of Fisher's life, beliefs, and contributions to history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
