In February 2040, a commercial airliner has disintegrated in midair and mysterious explosions have rocked industrial plants in several U.S. cities. The FBI and CIA cooperate with the National Reconnaissance Office, the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, the National Security Agency and the Secret Service in a desperate search for the bomb and the missing planes. But Kevin Watts, a newspaper reporter and former speech-writer to the President, discovers information that dramatically changes the problem and raises the stakes.
