After successive wins in the sectional and state level Science Team ExtreMe competitions, a huge loss at nationals sends Team TFU into a downward spiral. And while Joe wants to give the Xrail project another go, the rest of the team needs some convincing. But an anonymous text could change the team's direction, and either take them to the top ... or get them kicked out of the competition altogether-not to mention ruining their reputations.
Meanwhile, a familiar prison escapee with a questionable agenda and an unspecified timeline makes himself at home in Joe's underground condo: an act which could put an end to Joe and Jun's relationship as well as put lives at risk.
On the other hand, Praveen and Zoey, after years of rabidly dissing one another, begin to see each other in a different light, leading them to engage in potentially life-changing projects of their own.
So while Joe's striving to keep the team on an upward trajectory, he instead finds that relationship issues, ethical dilemmas, personality conflicts, and a sensational YouTuber have them moving ... somewhat sideways.
The third novel in the Twelve Feet series, Twelve Feet Up: Somewhat Sideways moves teenager Joseph McKinnon and his high school friends further along on their less-than-ideal journey toward the impossible task of replacing the automobile with a novel automated transportation system.
