The first book in the Translate Reality series was a book of everything that is life. Translate Reality: 2019 Edition was a medley of it all. Although the publication was only a year ago, it feels as if we have aged as a species by a thousand years. The 2020 edition of Translate Reality is a deep dive into the transformation, tragedy, perseverance and hope that emerged from a year that shook us all to the core. The year of humanity.
You can pick this book up anytime and put it down for as long as you want, not having missed anything. There are aspects of each of us contained within; our shared suffering through the pandemic, recovery from mental illness and as always, a thread of humour weaved in wherever possible. The stories of my life as a single mother by choice are an everlasting fountain of both endless love and gratitude, mixed with panicky terror, poor decision-making and my head tipped sideways like a confused puppy.
This book illuminates how trauma has impacted my life and explores the concept of recovery. What is recovery; how can we define our own recovery and cast away any stereotypes or judgment about the natural condition of the mind. As they say, we are all crazy. It's not a competition. If it was a competition, I would win. An incredible transformation occurred in the year 2020; only after the storm has finished will we be able to look back and realize we have rebuilt society already. The seeds of a new future are planted and the events of this year will ensure that new life pushes through the darkness. You could say that it is a thrilling time to be alive! This description may not come to fruition until we are far away from the viral cacophony of today and we can all remember whether it is December or Tuesday. This book, as with all my books, is a giveaway book. Take what helps or fits within your life and let the rest go. Pass it on if you would like; read it in bits and pieces if that works for you. My deepest gratitude for your compassion and your dedication to this shifting world.
I stand with you.
