A summer night's intrigue unfolds behind the velvet curtain, where wit sharpens every line and a single overheard word threatens to upend the fragile peace of a romantic idyll. In this celebrated comedy play script, the world of the theatre becomes both stage and battleground for love, jealousy, and the artful dodging of scandal. The result is a farce that sparkles with energy, as characters scramble to preserve dignity, affection, and reputation-often with hilariously unintended consequences. Crafted by two masters of their craft, this English stage comedy marries the sophisticated humour of early 20th century playwriting with the brisk, urbane dialogue of European theatrical comedy. The adaptation brings together the original Hungarian spirit with a distinctly British sensibility, resulting in a witty dialogue play that revels in misunderstandings, clever repartee, and the irresistible chaos of the stage. Every scene is a testament to the enduring appeal of the romantic stage play, where the boundaries between performance and reality blur, and the stakes are nothing less than the happiness of the heart. For those who appreciate a humourous play script that balances farce with genuine feeling, this classic theatre script remains as engaging as ever. The deft interplay between characters, the meticulously constructed misunderstandings, and the sly commentary on the world of actors and playwrights all combine to create a reading experience that is both entertaining and illuminating. Whether you are a general reader seeking lively entertainment, a classic-library buyer curating a collection of significant works, or a collector drawn to the finest examples of adaptation of Hungarian play traditions, this volume stands out for its craftsmanship and charm. This book was out of print for decades and is now republished by Alpha Editions. It has been restored for today's and future generations. This edition is not just a reprint - it's a collector's item and a cultural treasure.
