When his father finally shows up after 5 years of silence, Joshua seems completely unaware of the journey he is about to embark on. His father, a successful Nigerian neuroscientist, reveals that they are descendants of an ancient African tribe and that his depression is in fact him receiving messages from his ancestors. While it sounds pretty cool, he is not really up for the task. Nevertheless, the coincidence become to many that he decides to fly to Africa. There he joins the marine biologist only to be running for cover from a hospital whose staff are part of a secret cult. His intuition, increasingly heightened by the events, coupled with his ancestors guide, lead him eventually to a country he doesn't know, to meet people he has never met and convince them to perform a ritual that nobody can remember. When his story, infused with African Mysticism from Ancient Egypt to present day Tuareg peoples of Mali as well as the issues of global migration, provide a captivating insight on being blessed with two identities in an increasingly shrinking world.
