When his father finally shows up after 5 years of silence, Joshua seems completely unaware of the journey he is about to embark on. His father, a successful Nigerian neuroscientist, reveals that they are descendants of an ancient African tribe and that his depression is in fact him receiving messages from his ancestors. As if this is not enough to stomach, his father tells him that there is a sacred ritual which is meant to be taking part every thousand years- however there seems to be no one who remembers it and the partakers are yet to be found. Since his original village has been run down by rebels, it is up to him and Joshua to find their descendants somewhere on earth. Joshua who was suffering form depression before, is forced to become an African warrior, willing to obey his ancient tradition of restoring karmic order on earth. While it sounds pretty cool, he is not really up for the task. Nevertheless, the coincidence become to many that he decides to fly to Africa. There he joins the marine biologist only to be running for cover from a hospital whose staff are part of a secret cult. His intuition, increasingly heightened by the events, coupled with his ancestors guide, lead him eventually to a country he doesn't know, to meet people he has never met and convince them to perform a ritual that nobody can remember. When his story, infused with African Mysticism from Ancient Egypt to present day Tuareg peoples of Mali as well as the issues of global migration, provide a captivating insight on being blessed with two identities in an increasingly shrinking world.
