Later, Daniel Ross, a former Army medic attached to a recovery mission, must decide whether silence protects the missing or merely protects those who remain. In the present day, Mara and Tasha help create a public exhibit around an old, repaired flag-an exhibit that asks not only what the town remembers, but who is still waiting to belong.
