The advanced half of the University Tutorial Series algebra, written in 1898 for candidates facing the examinations of the University of London, and still a patient teacher.

William Briggs (1861-1932) and the mathematician G. H. Bryan, a Fellow of the Royal Society, wrote the tutorial series that carried external students through the Intermediate and degree examinations of London. The Tutorial Algebra came out in two parts, and this is the second: the advanced course, published by W. B. Clive in 1898 and built on the plan of Professor Radhakrishnan's algebra, which its authors credited as a careful study of the best English authorities.
