When Peter Travels begins to have reoccurring dreams of a mine in a tall, black mountain ruled by a mysterious man in a dark robe, he starts to question if these dreams might be real. Perplexed, Peter sketches images of his dreams in a drawing pad to try to piece together the meaning of the lingering scenes in his mind. The significance of his dreams are revealed during a visit to his old friend, Ames, who stumbles upon Peter's drawings and recognizes the mines and the overlord. Peter soon learns that he and Ames share the same past, a homeworld far from Earth that was consumed when its sun expanded into a red giant star. Together, they begin to unravel the mystery of Peter's connection to the mines and why he has become a traveler between the two worlds.
