The red sky in the evening is not a sunset; it is a warning. The sky over Garqot had reddened when a man stepped outside his home. His nose caught a strange smell. From far away, his eyes met what he later described as an abyss with a moving spiral. The next day, he climbed upstairs with a shotgun in his hand. He cried, making noise. BOOM! A hollow boom vibrated through his home, reaching every corner of the town of Garqot. He shot himself in the left eye and died. By the end of that week, almost twenty people had been swallowed by the spiral abyss. Almost ten had gone mad.
A kid, Asif, disappeared without a trace. A police officer was found dead. White sea foam bubbled from the corners of his mouth.
People whose eyes had seen the spiral abyss were swallowed by it. Or they went mad, pulling their eyeballs out and taking their lives. As fear spreads, people begin doubting each other, fearing that the cosmic evil might be one of them.
At the heart of this tale are Hamid, who tries to find his nephew; H.W., who tries to bring unity among the people; and Zulq, who wants the town to be evacuated. Along with others, these people will confront something that has no name, no shape, and no whereabouts. That thing sees them. It drives them mad. It takes them away.
This cosmic tale is filled with folk horror, supernatural mystery, psychological thriller, survival, tragedy, and more.
