The middle storefront of the last building on the South handled the banana trade. A tattered sign in the access passageway to the side of the building said BANANA CLUB ENTER SECOND DOOR FROM BEHIND. It was a widely known secret that this was a pseudonym for Communist Party, headquartered in an eight by fifteen room in back of a printing shop several blocks away. Michael and Monica, enmeshed in intrigue and dirty politics, saw their romance dashed against this backdrop, eventually had to engag in a loosing battle for existential survival.
