Certainty has a prophet problem.

A man arrives in the City of Certainty intending to stay for three days. An official selects PROPHET because it is the last available box. Years later, as a ship called The Perhaps prepares to leave, the city asks him twenty-eight questions about love, work, pain, money, freedom, faith, death, and the other subjects human beings prefer to settle before lunch.

He offers no revelation-only provisional answers, follow-up questions, and a suspicious amount of experience with forms. Around him, mayors, priests, merchants, parents, workers, and bureaucrats defend the systems that keep Certainty comfortably certain. They want wisdom, provided it does not interfere with commerce, tradition, public order, or lunch.

As departure approaches, every answer produces an objection, every principle encounters a person, and the reluctant prophet must decide whether honest uncertainty can guide a life without becoming another form of certainty.

The Questionable Prophet is a dry philosophical comedy about love without ownership, work without worship, faith without easy explanations, and a prophet who would like the record to show that he repeatedly objected to the title.

No final answers were harmed. Several were placed under review.
