As reluctant private eye Grayson Gray O'Toole kicks back on the deck of his Allegheny River cabin, his mind can't help drifting back to the frustratingly intricate murder investigation he has just finished. Even in this place of unspoiled beauty, Grayson can't stop pondering the ugliness of the common man.
It didn't seem like a difficult assignment when he first accepted it.
Famous author Duncan Van Goren learns of Grayson's business through Grayson's parents, socialites Eleanor and Shamus O'Toole. He wants Grayson to follow his sixteen-year-old son, Peter. Grayson takes the job and ends up at the door of The Cellar, a teenage nightclub hiding more than one secret. The dance floor is ruled over by the club's queen and owner, Amanda Joyce. Grayson is instantly beguiled by the beauty, but Amanda hides darkness behind her eyes. When she ends up dead, along with two other club employees, Grayson must shoulder his guilt and find her killer.
Grayson will team up with an old friend, Sheriff Tom Hawkins, to discovers the truths The Cellar hides. They will stumble upon long-lost family secrets, a gang of thieves, and unbelievable danger in The Problem Child.
