An opera singer without a voice, a lost set of priceless heirloom jewelry, and a struggling small-town production of The Pirates of Penzance all come together in this tale of romantic suspense with a twist of humor. Paisley Perleman, a young soprano widowed in a car accident, retreats to a town in Northern California Valley to recover, where she gets caught up in a search for a mysterious set of jewels that were lost in the holocaust, a quest that will change her life forever. The Jewelry Case is romantic suspense meets women's fiction, a light-hearted novel with likable characters and a dash of danger in a small town setting, written in the style of Elizabeth Peters (The Jacqueline Kirby series, the Amelia Peabody series), Debbie Macomber (The Inn at Rose Harbor, The Shop on Blossom Street) and Susan Wiggs (Summer by the Sea, the Apple Orchard). A touching page turner about second chances, perfect for clean reads fans of all ages.Unexpected Unique AspectsBy Callie Cappy on August 14, 2014Format: Kindle EditionThe story has an atmospheric feel that reminded me of the gothic romances I enjoyed as a teen. I liked the unusual aspects of the heroine who was an opera sinoger but finds herself unable to sing, and the twist of jewels missing for decades. Plus the ghostly or possibly reincarnation overtones added to the story's richness.
